Exploration Time!

Our classroom is set up to enable children to explore their interests when they have finished their work. Free play and exploration is important for their social skills and also for them to develop or extend their skills in various areas of learning.

The nature corner has finally been set up and the children enjoy working with the natural materials presented.

They have been making mandalas and balancing rocks.

The maker space is still very popular. We have recently added more tools and recycled materials for them to work with- like old computer parts and keyboards.

After the sharing of the story "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs', the children have been re-enacting different versions of the story using the crochetted figures. They made them trucks and fancy houses using the magna tiles.

We will be looking into setting up other areas that the children can access freely in during exploration or free choice time. The art area will be set up with paints, inks and water colours for them to paint and there will be a literacy area to encourage them to write letters and make books. A team of children will also be tasked to improve our class library so that the children will engage in looking at books during their free time.
