Inclined Planes

We have been looking at forces and motion. To understand how force works and how we use it in our daily lives, we are learning about simple machines. The first machine we looked at is the inclined plane. We understand that an inclined plane needs to be higher on one end and lower at the other. Gravitational force works to pull the object down.
We experimented with changing the height of the incline to see if the marble rolled down faster or slower, nearer or further. We also looked into how friction can change the speed of an object by using different surfaces on our inclined plane - grass, carpet and paper.
The children made lots of discoveries and recorded them in their Science Notebooks.
