Mentor Author - Eric Carle

We have been studying different authors in our Writer's Workshop, with one of them being Eric Carle. We studied his writing style and illustration techniques.

After watching a video where he showed us how he made the pictures in 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', we had a go at the painting techniques ourselves.

We created different paint effects on tissue papers and then cut them up. We then used these papers to make collaged pictures.

By showing the children various methods of book layouts and illustrations, I am hoping that they will learn to apply these techniques into their personal book and art making.
